Walking
The Inn on the Green is just 100 yards from the Coastal Footpath. Some of the
best walking country in the South West lies adjacent to Bude perfect for gentle
strolls, family walks and days out for experienced walkers. To the north, along
the South West Coastal Path, encounter Morwenstow, Hawker's Hut - the tiny
National Trust property, then on to Duckpool, where circular walks take in
Coombe Valley. Go southwards to find views of Widemouth Bay, the famous zigzag
rock formations of Millook, Crackington Haven's nearby coastal paths and ancient
woodland, the gnarled stunted trees of Dizzard Woods and delightful harbour
village of Boscastle.
Just one short walk in North Cornwall will show you how the natural landscape is
full of wide, startling interest. Take as a starting point any rock-strewn beach
or dizzy cliff-head, turn inland and you are soon in deep lush coombe, where
wild flowers bloom all year round.
Let the breathtaking coastal path blow your cobwebs away as it unravels through
cove and over cliff-top, the length of the North Cornish Coast.
Beaches
Bude's award winning beaches - from Duckpool in the north to Widemouth Bay in
the south - are ideal for sandcastles and beach cricket. Children will love the
sandy strand of Summerleaze beach, with its free open-air swimming pool, cleaned
twice daily by the High Tide. When the surf is up on Crooklets beach - Britain's
Bondi - surfers travel miles to catch it. On such days there's a real fizz in
the air, with waves as exhilarating to watch as they are to ride.
Canoeing/Kayaking
Shallow placid and enclosed water at Bude Canal makes it ideal for beginners and
those who are not water confident to experience canoeing/kayaking within a
totally safe environment.
